The purpose of Academic Advising at Miles College is to assist students in reaching their academic goals, encourage success, practice leadership, and cultivate self-directed learners.

Mission

Our goal is to advise our students to become intellectually and civically empowered members of the global community.  Academic Advising helps students understand the key requirements of their selected major, formulate and clarify goals related to academics and/or career, develop a four to five-year academic plan, and refer to appropriate campus resources.

Academic Advisor Responsibilities

Notification

• Each advisor will notify students on advisement dates/times, policies and procedures via email, phone, and other resources.

Curriculum and Policy Knowledge

• Academic Advisors are knowledgeable of Miles College degree requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Academic Advisors will clearly communicate student progress towards degree completion during each advising session with the students.

Technology and Preparation

Be prepared for academic advising session by reviewing student academic record. Review technology for appropriate notes for academic advising sessions (Grades First).
