The Center of Academic Excellence
A Career in Intelligence
The FBI, the CIA, Naval Intelligence — government agencies that make up the Intelligence Community have tens of thousands of employees worldwide, and employ college graduates in many different fields, from cybersecurity to HR and communications. Whether you want to perform data analysis, protect America’s cyber infrastructure, or help secure our safety at home and abroad by collecting information, there’s an intelligence career to match your interests.
Through the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence, Miles College is developing the next generation of highly qualified candidates for National Intelligence career positions. Miles is designated as a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
The CAE program prepares undergraduates with global skill sets that the Intelligence Community needs. It’s a unique, innovative program not found at any other college or university in the State of Alabama.
How the Program Works
As a CAE Scholars, you combine the program curriculum and experiences with study for your chosen major. The program provides individualized counseling, preparation and support for internships, special academic programming, and international study abroad experiences.
Weekly meetings feature talks on topics of national security, and domestic and foreign affairs, and the development of skills such as critical thinking, resume building, interviewing techniques, and managing internships.
Students in the program have been invited to travel to Washington, D.C. for briefing and to present research. They’ve met with representatives from agencies such as the FBI, CIA, and Naval Intelligence.
These experiences and relationships have led to careers within the Intelligence Community for CAE scholars.
Undergraduate students in all majors who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, who are in good academic standing, and who are U.S. citizens can apply to join the program.
Study Abroad
If you’re a CAE Scholar in good standing, you’ll be eligible to apply for a highly selective study abroad program focusing on Intelligence Studies, scholarship, and internship experiences. The selected CAE Scholars will travel internationally to several countries. In the past, CAE scholars have travelled to Burundi, Dubai, Egypt, Ghana and Turkey.
