A transfer student is considered to be any person who has been enrolled in a college or university other than Miles College, regardless of course load credits earned. To qualify for admission as a transfer student, one must have been in good standing at all institutions previously attended. Official transcripts from each college attended must be sent to the Office of Admissions before registration.

Students who have attended other colleges are admitted to Miles upon acceptance of their credentials from prior institutions. Credits are transferred when earned with a grade of "C" or higher at an accredited institution and when earned in courses equivalent to those offered at Miles College.

A maximum of sixty-four (64) semester hours is accepted from Junior Colleges. Only credit hours may be transferred. Quality points are not transferable and are not a part of the Miles College GPA, nor are they computed in determining honors at Miles College.

Additional credentials such as high school records may be requested if the student has earned fewer than thirty-two (32) semester hours.

Transfer students will also be asked to take the placement tests in English, reading, and mathematics. Even a transfer student who has received an Associate Degree will be required to take the placement test for data collection purposes. Transfer students whose performance on the placement test is be-low standard will be advised to take appropriate developmental courses.

Transfer students who plan to file candidacy for a degree from the institution must earn a minimum of thirty-two (32) semester hours of credit at Miles College.
