College Divisions

Miles College is organized into six divisions:

  • Division of Business & Accounting
  • Division of Communications
  • Division of Education
  • ivision of Humanities
  • Division of Natural Sciences & Mathematics
  • Division of Social & Behavioral Sciences
 
Except for Education, each division has areas of concentration in which students may pursue a major and minor interest.
 
Miles College offers baccalaureate programs leading to degrees in the following majors:
Accounting, Biology, Biology Education, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemistry Education, Communications, Computer and Information Science, Criminal Justice (special program for working adults), Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Elementary Education, English, Environmental Science, History, Language Arts Education, Management (special program for working adults), Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Music, Music Education, Political Science, Social Science Education, and Social Work.
 
Minor programs are offered in the following areas:
Accounting, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Communications, Computer Science, English, Gerontology (certificate program), adults), Mathematics, Music, Political Science, Public Administration, Religion and Philosophy, and Sociology.
A minor is recommended for each student, but is not required.
 
All students in all majors must pass the English Proficiency Examination (EPE) which is initially offered at the end of English 102 where a grade of “C” is required to pass the course. Passing the EPE is required before students’ acceptance into a major area of study. All students must also pass an Exit Exam with a minimum score of 70. The Exit Exam is a comprehensive major subject matter examination that is administered during the semester in which the student expects to graduate. The Exit Exam may not be taken prior to the graduation semester without approval of the Academic Dean. However, students who are poised for graduation in the summer may take the exam the preceding spring semester.
