When you enroll in Communications at Miles College, you enter into a relationship
and a promise that you will receive a quality learning experience, one that will
prepare you to compete favorably with other students from colleges and universities,
perhaps twice our size. The following is our promise. |
•
That students enrolled in communications have a well-rounded learning experience
in media education. This includes gaining knowledge of the history of mass media,
media technologies, and the impact of media on society. |
•
To prepare students in the application and practice of acquired skills in media
and the management of media entities as the students move into life situations
after college. |
•
To help students master the tools of persuasion and, through their creativity,
demonstrate strong skills in promotion, publicity, and press and public relations. |
•
To teach students to be competent in human communications, including the ability
to write for media, communicate orally, solve communications problems, research,
and think critically in terms of media. |
•
Finally, we recognize the importance of technology in communications and as such
are committed to ensuring Miles students are able to manipulate the technology
of media and meet the needs of an increasingly technologically driven society. |
