When students have completed all of their general education requirements as indicated
in the College catalog, they will be advised to meet with the division. Each student
choosing a major will be assigned an academic advisor in the Division of Communications.
Students are urged to meet their advisors as soon as possible, and at least twice
per month. A list is posted in each advisor’s office where the student may
sign in upon his arrival. |
The
Advisement center, in conjunction with the academic dean and registrar, will announce
the periods throughout the year when all-campus advising is initiated. During
these periods, students are required to meet with their advisors to receive guidance
on the selection of courses for the major. The divisional “checklist,”
which is found in the College catalog as well as is available in the office of
the Division Chair, indicates the specific general education and major core courses
required for completion of the major. The advisor will review these courses with
the student each time she or he comes in for advisement. During the Fall and Spring
semesters, faculty advisement is available after hours on certain days during
the open advisement period. |
