BORROWING/COPYING SERVICES

A Miles College Library card should be presented at all times when checking out materials.
Reference works are generally not checked out except with special permission of the Instructor.
Circulating Materials from the general collection are loaned for a two (2) week period
Reserve Materials are circulated at the request of the Instructor who usually sets the loan period depending upon the number of students in the class, and when the assignment is due.
Media Center Materials are limited to a circulation period based on availability.
The Mattie Jackson African-American Center houses special editions and rare books; thus, the circulation of these materials is limited.
Library fines are assessed as follows:
General Collection $. 10 cents per day
  Reserve Materials $1.00 per day
Children’s Collection $.35 cents per day
Mattie Jackson AfAm Ctr. $.75 cents per day
Library fines are paid through the Business Office. Once a receipt is presented that the fine has been paid, the user may continue to check out books.
This same policy applies for fines accumulated from the use of other libraries who participate with us in a networking system: University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Montevallo, Lawson State Community College, Birmingham-Southern College, Samford University, and Jeff State Community College. Fines accumulated from user services at these institutions must be cleared before the user can check out books from the Miles College LRC.
Copying services are available at the Learning Resources Center from the copying machine and from the microfilm/microfiche reader-printer. Users should obtain a debit card from the Business Office and use this card for payment of copying services.
